Fresh off its “Wheat” release, official renderings of the latest iteration of the Nike LeBron 12 EXT, dubbed “Rubber City,” have finally surfaced to confirm its authenticity.
Following our initial coverage of previews, this upcoming Nike LeBron 12 EXT “Rubber City” pays homage to LeBron James’ hometown of Akron, Ohio, renowned as the “Rubber Capital of the World” which essentially refers to the birth of the American trucking industry, where four major tire companies – Goodrich, Goodyear, Firestone, and General Tire were headquartered in the city.
By utilizing a tire’s composition as its aesthetic component, the LeBron 12 EXT is comprised of a synthetic material across its upper which mimics the texture of a tire through threads, grooves and rubber spikes scattered throughout. Reinforced by tonal Hyperposite overlays, the sleek and bold makeup is complemented by Metallic Silver Swoosh logos adorning the medial, all while resting atop an icy translucent hexagonal outsole unit.
Priced at $250, expect the Nike LeBron 12 EXT “Rubber City” to arrive at Nike accounts on May 2nd.
